If your phone is in another room, you're more likely to pray. This is why designing your physical space matters for spiritual growth. Create environmental cues that support the life you want to live. Designate a specific spot for prayer—a chair, a corner, a cushion. Your brain will begin to associate that space with spiritual practice, making it easier to enter a contemplative state. Remove distractions from your sacred space: no phone, no laptop, no clutter. Make spiritual resources visible and accessible: keep your Bible on your nightstand, not buried in a drawer. Display art or objects that remind you of God's presence. The principle is simple: make good behaviors easy and bad behaviors hard. Want to pray more? Create a beautiful prayer space. Want to scroll less? Keep your phone in another room. Your willpower is limited, but environmental design works automatically. This isn't manipulation; it's wisdom. God designed us to be shaped by our surroundings. Use that design intentionally.
